Susan Michaud has been at Clark & Elbing since 1997 and a partner since 2002. Prior to that, Susan was at Fish & Richardson, P.C., from 1993 to 1996. Susan’s practice emphasizes patent prosecution, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, patent portfolio management, strategic planning in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceutical chemistry, and due diligence analyses. She has substantial experience in areas including vaccine development; gene therapy; cancer biology; infectious diseases; drug screening assays; diagnostics; gene regulation and expression; genetics; viral vectors; transgenic animals; microbiology; medical devices; and nucleic acid, peptide, and complex organic compound-based therapeutics.
Susan’s doctoral research focused on the identification and characterization of early complexes formed in the process of pre-messenger RNA splicing. She employed molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques in her research. The results of her studies have been published in the journal Genes and Development.
