Joe applies his expertise in immunology, molecular biology and virology to assist with the strategic development of client patent portfolios. He works with a variety of biotechnology companies and academic clients to draft and prosecute patent applications. Joe also assists with freedom-to-operate due diligence through the analysis of competitor IP portfolios.
Joe’s doctoral research focused on the transcriptional regulation of microRNA in T cells in the context of immune-mediated bone marrow failure. He also assisted with work involving the use of induced pluripotent mesenchymal stem cells to alleviate disease in an animal model of graft-versus-host disease, as well as the use of cell-penetrating peptide mimics to deliver RNA and antibodies into T cells to modulate their activity. Joe has co-authored original research articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Molecular Therapy, Stem Cell Research, and Biomacromolecules.
