Overview

Alice applies her knowledge in microbiology, molecular biology, and immunology to assist clients in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications.

Prior to joining the firm, Alice completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Tufts University where she studied how the pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis senses and responds to environmental signals in the alveolar macrophages during infection. During her doctoral work, Alice explored biofilm formation in the marine bacterium Vibrio fischeri. Her work identified calcium as an environmental signal to induce biofilm formation, and elucidated the transcriptional network regulating production of polysaccharides, identifying several novel regulators.

Alice has co-authored peer-reviewed research papers and a scholarly review article published in Molecular Microbiology, mBio, Journal of Bacteriology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Encyclopedia of Life Sciences.
