Jae applies his scientific expertise in inorganic and physical chemistry to assist clients in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications.
Jae’s doctoral research focused on synthesizing molecular inorganic nanocrystals that were suitable candidates for covalent extension towards nanocrystal-based porous materials. His work encompasses organic and inorganic synthesis and nanomaterial characterization, involving collaborations with Harvard University’s Centers for Nanoscale Science (CNS) and Mass Spectrometry (HCMS), the Laukien-Purcell Instrumentation Center (LPIC), and the Center for Crystallographic Studies. This work culminated in the reproducible syntheses of nanocrystals that could be covalently linked, demonstrating the first proof of principle towards covalently linked nanocrystal assemblies.
Jae is passionate about education and scientific communication and received the Derek Bok Teaching Award for Excellence during his time as a teaching fellow. He is a coauthor of research published in the Journal of American Chemistry (JACS).
