Ross leverages his broad research expertise in physical and biological sciences to assist clients in obtaining maximum patent coverage for their cutting edge inventions. He works with a diverse set of academic clients, start-ups, and established biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to draft and prosecute patent applications to grant. He also assists scientists and investors with patentability and freedom-to-operate due diligence through the evaluation of client and competitor IP portfolios.
As a graduate student, Ross utilized biophysical approaches to dissect dynamic biological systems. His doctoral research focused on elucidating the mechanism of serine recombinases, enzymes that mediate the horizontal transfer of bacterial virulence genes. By using a combination of structural and kinetic techniques, he identified the molecular basis for catalytic activation and discovered a novel mode of arginine-mediated phosphoryl transfer.
Ross has authored original publications in Structure, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Nucleic Acids Research, and Scientific Reports.
